I’ve been thinking about this for quite a long time:

Many of us are walking around carrying a key chain with various numbers of keys on it. Every single key represents something that will, at some time, be unlocked by it. But for those of you who have many keys on your chain – is it really the case that you have more things to lock or unlock?

Might it be those of you who have many keys, also have many problems of various kinds that you need to lock in (or perhaps lock out of your life?) Or can it be that you do need to lock many things. Perhaps it’s a combination of both?

How many keys do you have on your chain? Are there keys you never use or that don’t have any purpose any more and should have been taken off your key chain?

May 13th, 2012

When my wife and I were living in the city of Malmö and were searching for a larger apartment, we went around looking for a nice house with apartments.

After a while we found a building which dated from the beginning of the last century and we both found it lovely to look at. The color was a lovely wine red – so lovely to look at that we decided to try to get an apartment there. But of course there were none available and they had a huge waiting list, so we continued our search.

Finally we found an apartment that was exactly what we were looking for except for one thing, the building was not beautiful – in fact it was almost too ugly to look at!

The funny thing though was that this building and our apartment were right across the road from the wine red, beautiful building we first looked at. It was an amazing experience when we looked out through our living room windows in our marvelous apartment and saw this beautiful wine red building just across the street.

In our minds we now started to think; supposing we had an apartment in that wine red building across the street and could see from that living room our rather ugly building, how great would that be?

Conclusion: It’s better to have a great apartment and a great view from the living room, than to live in a not-that-great apartment which is located in a nice-looking building, but with the view of an ugly building.

It can be a similar experience if you’re out in a sailing boat and looking at the coastline. If you really think about it, wouldn’t it be nicer to view a couple of sailing boats out on the sea while you’re laying or sitting on the beach?

Can you now understand what I mean by thinking differently?

There are many aspects to consider, both positive and negative.

One example of a negative might be that just hearing the words personal development being mentioned creates negativity in the mind, so the person isn’t open to the idea. How can that be at all positive? It’s more like being brain-washed! With this approach, surely the person knows that there are people who are open to personal development and who will probably improve as human beings while they will remain stuck where they are.

Why not clear all the dirt and unnecessary things now and then? You wash your body frequently, so why not include the most important part of your body – your brain. You even treat your car better than your brain (at least you wash it!)

One example of a positive might be that you’ve started your journey towards a better life by engaging in personal development. Then it’s important that you’re aware that this alone doesn’t make you into a better person – just by having started the process. It’s a life-long process that, as time goes by, will make you stronger and stronger. But the most important part is that you’ve made the decision to start and you’re already taking action.

May 7th, 2012

Great sorrow is obviously not something to seek as it can often be massively heavy. On the other hand, if or when it appears it’s important to nurture it for a while. Once it’s there and given that most of the time you can’t avoid it, let it be something you use.

What do I mean by that?

Sorrow is there for a reason and the only way to get rid of it is to let it pass naturally. Cry, be in despair, feel powerless or whatever, but importantly, don’t let anyone take it away from you. It’s you who determines when you’re finished and ready to let it go!

A common thing that blocks you from processing your sorrow is that somebody else may hurt you with an additional sorrow which over-rides it. Remember it’s you who is the manager of your sorrow and who decides how to use and treat it, not other people. Don’t allow this to happen. If you do – it can often lead to a broken heart!

May 4th, 2012

If your eyes are really open, do you see what you hope and want to see? If not, why not, or can it be that you just don’t care?

I do believe that most of us want to have our eyes wide open so that we can more easily recognize opportunities when they appear in front of us – as they do all the time . They’re often disguised as something quite different from an opportunity; it might even be in the form of a problem. If your eyes are wide open so you can recognize that a problem doesn’t necessarily need to be a catastrophe, your life can became much easier.

If you find that you don’t have your eyes open to opportunities, what do you do then? First you can recognize that your eyes are not totally closed, because then you wouldn’t even have been able to realize it! Nobody has totally closed eyes – we all squint a little all the time.

Don’t be satisfied with a squint! Develop your personality by listening to people who can inspire you to open up your eyes, either through a live speech or on CD. Of course it’s also great to read good books on Personal Development. But the main thing is that you constantly fill yourself up with personal development, as I’ve said hundreds of time – personal development is fresh, so it needs to be constantly nurtured in order to continue to help you.

A while ago I read a newspaper article in which they listed the most powerful men in the world.

Now it’s my belief that you’re powerful when you:

Have control in and over your own life.

Can do whatever you enjoy doing most, during your waking hours.

Are loved and are acting with love.

Have friends and family..

Can be who you really are and are respected for that.

Understand and have the ability to treat everyone as equal human beings – whatever their position and age.

Recognize that we are all equal and behave in that way, irrespective of poor economic standing or wealth

Live with the understanding that a leader you follow and a superior or boss you obey.

In this newspaper article the only measurement for power was how much money / assets the men have. It was never mentioned – not even a single phrase – that these men were really lucky or whether they were respected by others.

An interesting question would be; ‘How would they manage in life without their wealth?

Why do we generally feel much better and happier when we’ve cried?

Scientists explain everything with mathematic formulas, but using them is like trying to cut stone with a knife! My simple explanation is that we became stronger because of the intense feeling of a good cry which makes all tensions disappear. This feeling is, to many, a difficult thing to achieve and they don’t therefore really understand the value of it.

There are in fact many other ways to explain things than by mathematic formulae and specifically when it concerns what’s inside us i.e. our feelings and emotions. I haven’t seen any formula for this and in fact I haven’t even heard of anyone who’s tried to create one.

If I’m wrong, please show me the formula!

My dear mother died on the 8th November last year after a couple of days of struggle. She was 80 years old and this is a dedication to her.

Mother; I can still today feel the massive loss and now I’ve finally discovered what I miss most – all you gave.

I miss the deep unconditional love which you always gave to me and my brother. I ALWAYS felt loved by you dear mother and when I either visited you or spoke with you by phone you always became happy. Your love for me and my brother was without limitation, it shone so strongly around you.

If sometimes I felt low or depressed it was only necessary for me to grab the phone and call you:

`Hello Mum`

`Hi my little boy`.

My brother and I remained her little boys until the very end.

This joy for all the small things and situations (like my calling her) became very important to her. That fact could also give me strength that could last a long time. To me it was the same; she only needed small things but they became big things to her – as with my calls.

But now I can’t visit, call you or see the light that shines arounds you anymore. My loss is massive and I miss you so much.

That’s a question most of us have asked ourselves more than once during our lives. Many answers have probably popped up and you might recognize some of them below:

To have a lot of money and to be financially independent!

To be healthy!

To have good employment!

To have people look up to me!

To have many friends!

To be better than others!

To be a winner!

Etc, etc, etc.

But what is the real meaning of these?

Isn’t it just to ensure we can be happy? I’m convinced that it’s so!

If happiness is the most important thing to us, then it’s also important to realize that happiness is not the same for all of us. What makes me happy in my life is probably not the same as what makes you happy. In other words, what’s important is a highly personal thing to each one of us.

Please don’t allow anyone to decide what’s most important to you and what makes you happy. Listen to yourself; it’s only there you can really find the answer.
